Exact and Partial Match Domains in 2014: Why they still kick major ass

All these fools are telling everyone how EMD’s and PMD’s are no longer a viable strategy in 2014.

But guess what… These are the same Google Sheep that say backlinking does not work. Or SEO is dead. Or you only need high quality content to rank.

Frankly, it is all rubbish.

I’ve tried many approaches. Creating a site with the absolute best content on the web, no link building. Then created another website using an EMD, 500 words of crap content, and some link building.

Want to know what happened? The EMD ranked top in less than a month.

Now the SEO’s will be saying… “But Steve (MR CHAOS), that’s only going to last a month or 2, then you’ll lose the rankings and the high quality content one will take its place”.

My answer to that is in 2 parts…

  1. You are an idiot for believing that it will be so short term
  2. You are an idiot for thinking that if that was the case, it would even matter

Apologies, I’m having a bit of a rant here.

But check this out…

The website that is an EMD, is still ranking top now. 6 months later. And truthfully, it was so damn easy to rank, if it got penalised every other month, I could just create new ones and dominate the top position for a long time.

Sure that is churn and burn, which I never wanted to get into in the past… but do you know where the “high quality site” is sitting?

Page 6.

No kidding. It’s stuck. Not moving. Maybe it is all part of a 10 year strategy to have the best content available in your niche.

Now there is a trick to doing EMD’s and PMD’s to stop you getting penalised.

It’s all about not over optimising your website and the anchor texts.

For example if I wanted to rank for SEO Northampton, I could use the keywords seo in northampton which uses a stop word to have diversity. But of course I wouldn’t want to use that keyword more than once….

For the next anchor text, I could use seo northampton agency, see how I’m diversifying this in different links while essentially saying the same thing?

Penguin isn’t that smart, as my last post covered.

You can be heavily optimised without using the exact same anchor text every time, which is why penguin penalises you for.

What you can do after you’ve used a LOT of other anchor texts and you’ve nearly got the rankings you want, then you can add some exact anchor texts in. This will give you the final push you need.

But do not follow stupid rules such as 5% exact match ratio, that is crazily unnatural. If you have 1000 links and 50 of them are the exact same, it looks like an SEO’s handy work.

Anyhoo… Tell me what you guys have been doing recently with EMD’s or PMD’s. I’m absolutely crushing it with them with my Northamptonshire Online Marketing site.
