How to Avoid The Penguin 2.0 Penalty

I’ve recently been testing what causes the Penguin 2.0 penalty by Google and have found out what is causing it and how to fix it.

Google-Penguin-2.0

SCREW YOU PENGUIN 2.0!

Anyhoo…

Penguin is all about over-optimisation, so if you sell red t-shirts and your website has text like:

I like red t-shirts because red t-shirts are good and red. Plus they’re great t-shirts to wear. Buy red t-shirts from us today, the only place you should try for red t-shirts.

Get the idea?

Not only is it for on-page, but also off page. Meaning the links to your website.

If every single link to your website is the keyword you are trying to rank for, this is clearly unnatural and is the main penalty of the Penguin 2.0 update.

BUT WAIT! Here’s how you can easily fix it!

Add more links.

You’re thinking….. WHAT YOU TALKING ABOUT?

More links?

That’s the opposite to what Google want. But it’s not. It’s the opposite of what Google want – you to do.

Not the opposite of what Google’s algorithm loves.

The best way to fix your website after being hit by the Penguin 2.0 penalty, is to add more links to your website with alternative anchor text.

If you use a tool like Majestic SEO you can easily track and manage how optimised your anchor text is. Ideally you don’t want to use your main keyword more than 10% of the time.

I think the general rule is less than 33%, but I go super low.

Conclusion

Don’t over optimise your website or backlinks, it’ll get you slapped.

If you do get slapped, make your content more friendly and add more links with different anchor texts…

And you’ll kick penguin 2 in the balls.

Haha. Seriously though, try these techniques. They seem to have worked great for me.
